The Lab was developed by Swedish Match in collaboration with snus users, researchers and designers with the aim of creating a new and original snus. The result was The Lab Series; Two types of snus with a natural tobacco character and hints of herbs, cedar and nut. The pouch also received a new elongated shape.

The names of the snus come from the development work and the numbers are the code names used to distinguish the mixtures. Today, The Lab is available in many flavors and has recently received a facelift in terms of design. Some of the flavors offered are Extra Strong White, Strong White Fresh Mint and Extra Strong Portion.
