Short version: if you want one ZYN flavour that almost nobody regrets, get Cool Mint. If mint isn't your thing, Apple Mint and Black Cherry are where most of our NZ customers end up. The rest of this list is where it gets more personal.
I've ranked nine flavours, not nine products. Most ZYN flavours come in a few strengths and in mini or slim, so I've grouped those under each flavour instead of letting Cool Mint take up three spots. The ranking is based on what Kiwis reorder from us, what they tell us when they email, and what we actually reach for ourselves here in Lidköping. It's not a lab test. It's an opinion with a lot of orders behind it.

The 9 Best ZYN Flavours, Ranked
1. Cool Mint
There's a reason it's first. Cool Mint is the flavour we ship more of to New Zealand than any other ZYN, and it's the one people come back to after trying everything else. It's a dry, sharp peppermint. No sweetness to speak of. The cooling kicks in fast and doesn't fade halfway through like some cheaper mints do.
If I'm honest, it's a bit boring. That's also the point. It's the pouch you can use all day without getting sick of it.

2. Apple Mint
This is the one I'd hand to someone who says mint pouches are too harsh. You get green apple first, and the mint sort of creeps in behind it. After ten minutes or so it tastes more like apple chewing gum than a nicotine pouch.
Our staff favourite, for what it's worth. The slim Strong in particular.

3. Black Cherry
The best fruit flavour ZYN makes right now, in my opinion. It's dark cherry rather than the cough-lolly kind, with a slight tartness that keeps it from getting sickly. No cooling at all, so it's a proper break from mint.
The mini 6 mg is the version people reorder most.

4. Red Fruits
Strawberry, raspberry and a bit of cherry. What I like is that none of them takes over. It's warmer and rounder than Black Cherry, which some people prefer and some find too soft. If you liked Black Cherry and want something with a few more layers, try this next.

5. Citrus
Orange and lemon, clean and fairly quiet. It doesn't fill your whole mouth the way mint does, which is exactly why a lot of Kiwis use it as their everyday pouch. Not exciting. Very easy to live with.

6. Lemon Spritz
Lighter and fizzier than Citrus. Several NZ customers have described it as "lemon sherbet in a pouch", and I haven't found a better way to put it. Orders for this one go up every NZ summer, which tells you most of what you need to know.

7. Blackcurrant Ice
The best of ZYN's ice flavours. Ice versions add a second cooling agent, so you get a sharp cold hit at the start and then a slower chill that hangs around. With a lot of ice products the fruit just disappears under the cold. Here the blackcurrant actually holds up.
Worth knowing: it only comes in high strengths. This is not where you start.

8. Spearmint
If Cool Mint feels like brushing your teeth too hard, this is the gentler version. Sweeter, softer, less bite. The mini 1.5 mg is the lowest-strength ZYN we carry, which makes it the one people pick when they want to cut down.

9. Coffee
The odd one out. Roasted coffee with a faintly nutty, almost nougat sweetness underneath. It used to be called Espressino, so if you're looking for that, this is it.
It doesn't suit everyone. People who like it tend to like it a lot.
Didn't make the top 9, but worth a look
- Menthol Ice (11 mg, 16.5 mg): the coldest thing ZYN makes. Formerly Deep Freeze. Experienced users only.
- Violet Licorice (Slim Regular): anise and something floral. Scandinavians tend to love it, Kiwis are more divided. Buy a single can first.
- Peach (Mini 3 mg): soft and not too sweet. Used to be Bellini.
- Black Licorice (Mini 3 mg): stronger anise than Violet Licorice, less floral. Polarising.
How We Ranked These
No scoring formula, I'll be upfront about that. Three things went into the order:
- Reorders from New Zealand. A first order tells you what looked interesting. The second and third tell you what people actually liked. That counts for the most.
- What customers tell us. Reviews on the product pages, and the emails we get after an order ("too sweet", "can't taste the fruit", "finally found my one").
- Our own use. We use these ourselves. Where our own taste and the reorders pointed in different directions, the reorders won.
I only included flavours we had in stock when I last checked the list in October 2026. ZYN adds and drops products fairly often, so if a link stops working, that's probably why. I'll update the list when it changes.
Mint, Fruit or Ice? Picking a Flavour Family
Mint is the safe bet. It's also the one people say feels "stronger", even at the same mg, because the cooling makes your gums tingle more. If you don't want that, go for spearmint over peppermint.
Fruit feels smoother. No cooling, so the pouch itself is less noticeable.
Ice is fruit or menthol with extra cooling on top. ZYN only makes these in higher strengths, so they're for people who already know what they like.

Mini or Slim?
Same flavours, different feel. Mini is small and drier, and almost invisible under the lip. Good for work. Slim is longer and softer, sits along the gum, and lasts longer per pouch. Most of the strong and extra strong versions only come in slim.
A lot of our customers end up with one of each. Slim at home, mini in the car or at work.

ZYN Flavours: Quick Questions
What's the most popular ZYN flavour in New Zealand?
At Snusdaddy it's Cool Mint, by a clear margin, and the Slim Extra Strong is our single best-selling ZYN product to NZ. For fruit, it's Black Cherry.
Which ZYN flavour isn't sweet?
Cool Mint. It's the driest flavour in the range. Violet Licorice and Black Licorice aren't very sweet either, but they're an acquired taste.
Does the flavour change how strong it feels?
The nicotine content is set by the mg on the can, not the flavour. But mint and ice flavours make your gums tingle more, so a lot of people feel them as stronger than a fruit pouch at the same mg.
How many ZYN flavours do you stock?
