LYFT

LYFT is now VELO. British American Tobacco retired the LYFT brand name globally in 2022 and consolidated its nicotine pouch range under VELO. Find your former LYFT product using the name-change table below – or head straight to our VELO nicotine pouches page to shop the full current range.

Last updated: 23 February 2026. LYFT nicotine pouches have been rebranded as VELO by manufacturer British American Tobacco. Most former LYFT products continue under the VELO name. Some flavours have been renamed, reformulated, or replaced with new VELO varieties.

LYFT Nicotine Pouches – Now VELO in New Zealand

LYFT has not been discontinued – it has been rebranded. British American Tobacco (BAT), the company behind LYFT, made the decision to consolidate its global nicotine pouch range under a single name: VELO. Most products that were available as LYFT in the Snusdaddy NZ range continue under the VELO name. A number of flavours were renamed, reformulated, or replaced with new VELO varieties in the process – the table below maps out exactly what happened to each product.

What Was LYFT?

LYFT was British American Tobacco's premium tobacco-free nicotine pouch brand, launched in Scandinavia in 2019 and quickly becoming one of the most popular nicotine pouch brands in the world. Where many brands defaulted to standard mint profiles, LYFT built a wide, genuinely creative flavour range – Tokyo Zing, Caribbean Spirit, Urban Vibe, Just Bloom, Barista Twist – that appealed to Kiwi customers who wanted more than the standard mint-and-berry lineup.

LYFT offered both slim and mini pouches across most flavours, with strengths running from regular (4–6mg/pouch) through to ultra strong (14mg/pouch). It earned a loyal following in New Zealand before the rebrand, and the core of that range continues today under VELO.

LYFT to VELO – Two Rounds of Name Changes

The journey from LYFT to the current VELO range actually happened in two separate rounds of rebranding, which is why some customers have found it confusing to track their favourite products.

Round 1 – LYFT became VELO (2022): BAT retired the LYFT brand name globally and relaunched everything under VELO. At this point, most products kept their flavour names – LYFT Ice Cool Strong became VELO Ice Cool Strong, LYFT Freeze X-Strong became VELO Freeze X-Strong, and so on.

Round 2 – VELO internal rebrand (2024): BAT then renamed many individual flavours within the VELO range to create global consistency and better reflect each product's character. VELO Ice Cool Strong became VELO Crispy Peppermint, VELO Cool Storm became VELO Peppermint Storm, VELO Freeze Max became VELO Mighty Peppermint Max, and so on. The formulas didn't change – just the names on the can.

So if you were a loyal LYFT Ice Cool Strong user, your product is now called VELO Crispy Peppermint. Same recipe, two name changes later.

Why Did LYFT Become VELO?

British American Tobacco made a global strategic decision to consolidate all of its tobacco-free nicotine pouch products under the VELO brand name. LYFT was strong in Scandinavia and parts of Europe, but BAT decided that a single global brand identity would serve international markets – including New Zealand – more effectively than maintaining multiple regional names. The rebrand also gave BAT the opportunity to refresh and expand the range, which is why some LYFT flavours were replaced with new VELO varieties rather than carried across unchanged.

FAQs – LYFT Rebrand and VELO NZ

Is LYFT discontinued?

LYFT as a brand name has been retired, but most products continue under VELO. A handful of flavours – Cucumber Mint, Just Bloom, Barista Twist, and Urban Vibe – were not carried across into the VELO range and have no direct replacement. For those specific products, see the discontinued table above for the closest available alternatives.

Are LYFT and VELO exactly the same product?

For the products that carried across directly, the flavour profiles and formats are the same. Most show a minor mg/pouch adjustment – typically 0.3–0.5mg/pouch higher in VELO – which is not significant in practice. For renamed or reformulated products, the profile may be slightly different – see the mapping tables above for details.

Can I still buy LYFT-branded cans?

No. LYFT-branded production has ceased and we no longer stock LYFT cans. We stock only current VELO production.

Who makes VELO (formerly LYFT)?

VELO is produced by British American Tobacco (BAT). The nicotine pouches are manufactured in Sweden and distributed globally.

How quickly are VELO pouches delivered to New Zealand?

We ship from our warehouse in Lidköping, Sweden, with dispatch within one business day. Delivery to New Zealand main centres – Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch – typically takes 5–8 working days via UPS Express. PostNord standard takes 10–15 working days. All orders include tracking.

Nicotine is an addictive substance. VELO products are intended for adult nicotine users only. Must be 18+ to purchase. Not for sale to minors.

Erik Rosengren – Owner, Snusdaddy

Erik Rosengren founded Snusdaddy to give customers access to the best of the European and international nicotine pouch market. LYFT was one of the standout brands in the NZ range – the flavour creativity made it a genuine favourite among Kiwi customers. The rebrand to VELO is mostly seamless for users of the core range, though the loss of Barista Twist, Just Bloom, Cucumber Mint, and Urban Vibe is worth acknowledging – those were genuinely distinctive products without equivalents elsewhere. For everything else, the VELO range is a direct continuation and in many cases an improvement.
